Tall door
We really had fun with this 20' tall pivot door for a private residence. We used tube steel construction with steel sheet cladding. For finish we blackened the hot roll steel and did a light lacquer top coat. We worked closely with Rapt studio to assist in designing this bi-folding moveable wall. The hot roll steel selected was blackened then sealed with wax which is ideal for this space. The natural corrosion resistance of hot rolled material is a perfect choice in a commercial space which may not get the regular maintenance required by cold rolled steel. Opposed to other sealants wax does not scratch, is easily maintained and, has virtually no thickness which keeps the design crisp. Our solid door core (and the wood for our pulls) was custom and sourced from Scott Faulkner Design who did a wonderful job ensuring we had a straight, flat surface to work with. Private residence fireplace
This fireplace was fabricated using 3/8" pickled and oiled plate steel. The upper surround was build independently from the lower hearth due to the total weight of the unit being around 440 lbs.
