This fireplace was fabricated using 3/8″ pickled and oiled plate steel. The upper surround was build independently from the lower hearth due to the total weight of the unit being around 440 lbs. The only visible fasteners in the unit are (3) #8 countersunk machine screws. Design by Tyler Engle Architects.
