Prototype wall cladding tiles made from blackened steel sheet metal.
We really had fun with this 20′ tall pivot door for a private residence. We used tube steel construction with steel sheet cladding. For finish we blackened the hot roll steel and did a light lacquer top coat. The client is hopeful that over time he’ll get some light flash rust to match the door with the corten colored tiles which clad the exterior of the home.
Bookshelf with integrated lighting.
Bookshelf was created using 1/2″ steel round bar with the exception of the integrated light bars which illuminate the top and second shelf. All of the electrical components are hidden within the tubes and within a small custom junction box on the bottom of the lowest shelf.
Another stainless table base for Scott Faulkner Design. This one is made from 3/8″ stainless plate with a matte mill finish and polished edges. We love the grain that comes out with stainless plate! The top was made from solid 5/8″ oak by SFD.
We worked closely with Rapt studio to assist in designing this bi-folding moveable wall. The hot roll steel selected was blackened then sealed with wax which is ideal for this space. The natural corrosion resistance of hot rolled material is a perfect choice in a commercial space which may not get the regular maintenance required by cold rolled steel. Opposed to other sealants wax does not scratch, is easily maintained and, has virtually no thickness which keeps the design crisp. Our solid door core (and the wood for our pulls) was custom and sourced from Scott Faulkner Design who did a wonderful job ensuring we had a straight, flat surface to work with. Overall, each of the four door panels weighed in at around 500lbs and measured 5 feet wide by 9 feet tall. Together they formed the impressive 9’x22′ moveable wall you see below. Special thanks to Devin at Rapt for the photos.
Resin for the DMG home.
This steel table was constructed with custom lugs as one might build a bicycle. The finish was created specifically for this client using various techniques which give the impression that this table had been long used, and loved. The beautiful top is made from translucent red resin.
This pivot door has a solid wood core, clad with stainless steel panels. The panels were blackened and have a wax top coat. We also made the door pull from solid 1 1/4″ stainless round bar and measures 16″ in height.

3leaf audio approached us about a custom finish for a line of guitar pedals. After some collaboration to understand what 3leaf was looking for, this is what we came up with. It’s a perfect storm of blackened steel with rust accents. This was all topped off with a matte clear coat. We were both very happy with the end result!
